Mrs. Richie Wells

April 14, 1952 — September 3, 2025

Richie Lee Jones was born April 14, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Alice Jones and late Richard Salter. She was the third youngest of 7 children; 4 boys and 3 girls. Growing up with humble beginnings, Richie, learned the value of family and developed her passion for caring for those in need.

Richie attended the DPS school system throughout her elementary and middle school years before receiving her GED in 1980. Determined to excel in her education, she began taking college classes the following year at Wayne County Community College.

At the age of 15, Richie wed her first spouse before starting their family. From that union she birthed 4 children; 1 boy and 3 girls. Richie committed to that union before ending the marriage in the mid 1970's.

Richie excelled in homemaking and motherhood. While raising her own children, she also cared for a host of family members. Richie opened her home and her heart in an effort to strengthen the overall family dynamic.

In 1978, she would meet the love of her life, Dwight Wells. After many years of courtship, they married on June 2, 2002. Their union would only be overshadowed by her passing.

Although Richie accepted Christ at an early age, she returned to accept Christ back into her life in the 1980's at Solomon's Temple Church.

Throughout her adult life, Richie held a number of positions including housekeeper, school bus driver and City of Detroit Sanitation truck driver as well, where she would later retire in the 1990's.
