Robert Eugene
Brown
February 24, 1952 – May 8, 2026
Robert Eugene Brown Jr., affectionately known as "Junior" by his family, was born on February 24, 1952, to Robert Eugene Brown Sr. and Lillie Juanita Brown. Three children were born to this union: Llana Hall, Carolyn Brown, and Robert, who was the youngest. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Brown.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age at St. Luke AME Church. He spent his early years in Highland Park, Michigan, and attended Highland Park High School. He later attended Mackenzie High School after his family relocated to Detroit.
Throughout his life, Robert was hardworking, determined, and always striving for growth. He worked at Avis Ford and later dedicated more than ten years of service to Chrysler. He also worked in copy machine repair, but his true passion was painting. As a Master Painter with more than 60 years of experience, Robert perfected his craft and generously used his talents to help family, friends, and countless others. He later expanded his skills into property management and became a certified mold inspector, successfully managing several properties over the years.
Robert was the proud father of Jason Brown and Marsha Brown. Through every season of life, he loved his children deeply, and they loved him in return. Together they shared laughter, meaningful conversations, and cherished memories.
Robert was faced with challenges in life, but through faith, strength, and determination, he found recovery through Narcotics Anonymous. He transformed his life and became a source of encouragement and inspiration to others walking similar journeys. On March 8, 2026, while celebrating 24 years of clean living, Robert wrote: "Today, I'm celebrating 24 years of transformation and growth, grateful for the journey that has brought me to this milestone of clean living in recovery.
"Robert met the love of his life, Rhonda, at church through a close friend named Harry. They were married in June 2009 and shared many beautiful years together filled with love, faith, companionship, and unwavering support. Through this union, Robert also lovingly embraced Rhonda's daughter, Andrea Sims, as his own. Together they enjoyed attending church, listening to jazz, going to concerts, and spending quiet time at home. Reflecting on their relationship, Rhonda lovingly shared, "We completed each other. When he was weak I was strong, and when I was weak he was strong.
"Robert found joy in many things throughout his life. He loved riding his motorcycle, cruising in his silver Corvette, playing the congas, caring for his houseplants, and watching western movies. He especially enjoyed attending classic car shows, including the Detroit Autorama. As an avid animal lover, Robert cared for several beloved dogs over the years, a bird named Twitch, and a treasured fish tank that brought him great joy.
Robert was strong, resilient, and a true fighter. Throughout his life, he overcame many medical challenges with courage and perseverance, having Rhonda faithfully by his side every step of the way.
Robert Eugene Brown Jr. departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2026.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Rhonda Brown; his sister, Llana Hall, widow of the late Gene Hall; his children, Jason Brown, Marsha Brown, and Andrea Sims; his nephews and niece, Darin Hall, Eric Hall, Karma Brown, and Cairo Wilson; his grandchildren, Saige Kinnerman and Paisley Kinnerman; and a host of extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his strength, kindness, and resilience.
May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
