Celebrating the Life of Robert James Huff
May 21, 1957 – June 13, 2026

Robert James Huff, affectionately known as "Bu," passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, an enduring entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep devotion to his family.

Born on May 21, 1957, in Lower Peachtree, Alabama, to Slater Huff Jr. and Sarah Huff, Robert was the sixth of eight children. A natural entrepreneur from the age of three, he began picking up and selling pecans—an industrious hustle that allowed him to save $10,000 by the time he relocated to Detroit in the late 1970s. Gifted with his hands, he also saved enough at a very young age to purchase his first home.

Robert graduated from Monroe Senior High School and later completed trade school with a certification in Auto Mechanics. Following his siblings to Detroit, he secured a position at the Ford Michigan Truck Plant, dedicating over 25 years of loyal service before his retirement.

Robert's greatest joy was his family. He was blessed with two beloved daughters, Robye and Danielle, and completely adored his two grandchildren, Jonathan Tansil and Ava Micah Wallace. He took immense delight in every moment spent sharing wisdom and laughter with them.

Robert was reunited in eternal rest with his parents, Slater Jr. and Sara Huff; his brothers, Walter and Jackson Huff; his sister, Thelma Kidd; and his nephews, Jeffrey and Walter "Duke" Huff Jr.

His memory will be cherished by:

- Daughters: Robye (Steve) Wallace and Danielle Tansil.
- Grandchildren: Ava Micah Wallace and Jonathan Tansil.
- Siblings: Allie "Ree" Huff, Sara "Sister" Huff, Slater "Wemp" Huff III, and Ella "Niecie" Patrick.
- Devoted Niece: Shaunda Edwards.
- Extended Family: A vibrant host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives, all of whom he deeply loved and who held a special place in his heart.

Robert was also uniquely blessed with a gift for friendship, drawing people to him with his warm personality and dependable nature. He leaves behind a circle of devoted friends who truly became an extension of his family: Samuel "Sammie Lee" Lane, Jackie Duncan, Cheryl Pollard, Valarie Sammels, Thaneshia "Chris" Howard, and Linda Steaverson, alongside many other local community members whose lives he touched.

"Bu" will be remembered as a man of action, a loving father, a doting grandfather, a loyal brother, a wonderful uncle, and a true friend. His strength, clever hands, and generous heart will never be forgotten.
