It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Romia Turner Rupert, who departed this life on January 15, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 7, 1934, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Romia was a beloved son, brother, and grandfather who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
Romia spent his years contributing to the automotive industry as a mobile painter, where his exceptional skills and dedication were evident to all who worked with him. Despite having only completed the 5th grade, Romia possessed a wisdom and resourcefulness that were unmatched.
Romia is survived by his cherished granddaughter, Jailyn Rupert, and his devoted siblings. His legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
A public viewing for Mr. Rupert will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM at James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel. Family and friends are invited to come together to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable man.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 28th, at 11:00 AM at the New Greater Oregon St. John Baptist Church, preceded by a Family Hour at 10:30 AM. We invite all who knew Romia to join us in honoring his life, sharing stories, and supporting one another in our time of grief.
Following the service, Romia will be laid to rest at Trinity Cemetery in Detroit, MI. His spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will continue to live on in our hearts.
