Ronnie Culpepper

May 14, 1939 — February 3, 2025

Emblem

Our beloved Ronnie Culpepper passed away at home on February 3. He was 85 years old.

Ronnie was an only child, born in Saginaw Michigan, on May 14, 1939, to Millard and Nyla Maxine Culpepper. At a young age, he moved to Detroit with his family.

In 1957, Ronnie graduated from Hamtramck High School near Detroit. He later joined the United States Army, serving approximately four years. He worked for Railroad Express and later for Chrysler, where he retired.

Ronnie married Bobbie Washington in 1973. They would have been married 52 years this year. Many of us can attest to the fact that Ronnie adored his family. He found great pleasure in collecting photos and memorabilia of his family’s ancestors. Being a part of family events always brought him joy.

Family was so important to Ronnie. His mother and grandmother were special to him. He took care of them and his stepparents in their latter years. Ronnie also spent quality time with many of his young cousins. As a result, they held him in high regard and considered him to be more of an uncle or big brother than a cousin.

To cherish his memory, Ronnie leaves his wife, Bobbie Culpepper; brothers-in-law, George Washington and Willie Washington; more than 160 special cousins, including the eldest Donna Lewis, Vicky (Bobby) Sanders, Ricky(Noke) Logan, Debbie Pruitt, Renee’ Mills, Nyla Groggins, Tony (Lillian)Logan Sr., Gerard Logan, Barbara Logan, Darryl Logan, Lisa Logan, Monty Logan, Iris Logan, Jamie Logan, Bobby Logan, Nicole Logan, Drew Logan, Timothy Grant, Cynthia (Charles) Ausbrook and beloved cousins in Cleveland, Ohio; dear friends, including the Laceys, Shirley Williams, Billy Hall, Charles Seidel, ‘Woody,’ Paul Cueny; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Bennie Logan, stepfather James Davenport and stepmother Charles Prestine Culpepper.
