Jasmond S. Shelby

November 11, 1975 — July 9, 2020

Jasmond (Jaz) Scott Shelby, was born November 11, 1975, in Detroit, MI, the third child of seven to the late Gerry and Deborah Shelby.

Jaz accepted Christ at an early age and loved going to church. At one point he thought he would become a minister. In many ways he was, sharing his self-taught knowledge of spirituality and metaphysics with family and friends.

Jaz graduated from Denby High School in Detroit in 1994. Gifted with mechanical and artistry skills, Jaz loved repairing things and sketching. His talents led him to the automotive industry, working for Ford Motor Company for over a decade. He went on to become a robotic technician for Comau. Jaz was known for his great sense of fashion. He loved wearing gators and was rarely seen without a pair on.

Jaz shared a lifetime of love with his childhood sweetheart, Shanell Fuller Shelby. Within their 22-year relationship three children were born; two daughters, Jasmine Sharell and Autumn Nicole and one son, Elijah Scott. Jaz was a very hands-on and active husband and father, always imparting wisdom to his children and family. He was very supportive of his family and friends.

Jaz departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerry, three aunts and four uncles.

He leaves to carry on his legacy and cherish his memories his wife, Shanell; their children: Jasmine, Autumn and Eli; his mother Deborah; his siblings: Gerri Shelby, Lesley (LaVonte) Marshall, April Shelby, Byron (Raquel) Shelby, Brandon (Shaquela) Shelby, and Matthew Shelby; Mother-in-Law: Cynthia Fuller; two brothers-in-law: Rickey Charles, and Kyrin Hall; three aunts: Sandra Williams, Yvonne Ross and Beverly Curry; a special aunt: Elaine Kitchen; one uncle: Chauncey Carter; three nieces, seven nephews, one great-niece and a host of cousins and close friends.
