Obituary for Elizabeth L. Stewart

Elizabeth Louise Stewart was born August 28, 1936, in Florence Alabama to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Wilson. Louise as being fondly called received her early childhood education at Miller High School in Detroit, Michigan.

Louise shared her love of life through her dedication to her husband and family. Louise was Mom to all, regardless of if you are a relative or from the neighborhood. Louise shared the love of her home with family and friends with a style of remembering where she grew up in Detroit, the area known as “Black Bottom”. She believed in in God’s principle of giving and whenever you bring someone to the house for a visit, they were considered as family. Louise touched the lives of so many, and with open arms she received those who came to her, for her family she was a pillar, and a place of refuge.

She loved to cook, especially the remembering the sweet potato pie, the caramel cake, the sugar and peanut butter cookies and even the peanut brittle. She would pick you up when you had fallen and continue to encourage us to be better than we thought we could. Even when she was feeling ill her response was always, “I’m fine”. She loved playing cards, whether it be “Tunk”, “Bid Wiss’, Poker, or with Paul as her partner, “Penuckle”.
