Obituary for Maggie L. Swearingum

Heaven's gates have opened for another of God's faithful servants. Mrs.
Maggie Louise Swearingum, known to all simply as 'Louise", went to be with
her Heavenly Father on June 6,2013. Born in Wynn Arkansas, on
Thanksgiving Day ( November 24,1938), Louise was the tenth child of
Abraham and Magnolia Payne. Both of her parents, as well as her brothers,
Postell, John Willie, Abraham Jr. and Nathaniel, and sisters, Maricella, Ruby,
and Estell Payne preceded her in death. Her stepson Quinton Swearingum and
two grandsons Maurice and Kaleb Payne, and God mother Eunice Murphy also
preceded her in death.

Louise was educated in the Wynn Arkansas school district. At an early age,
she confessed a faith in Christ, and was baptized. After moving to Detroit, she
became a frequent attendee at the New Star Light Missionary Baptist Church.
On October 22, T965 Louise joined Richard L. Swearingum in Holy matrimony.
Louise was a constant source of guidance and wisdom. Louise was fun
loving and hosted many family Bar-B-Que events. Louise loved fishing,
cooking and baking. Her specialty was her famous "dump cake". She had a way
of making people feel at ease. Although, Louis was a woman of very modest
means, she was always willing to lend a helping hand and assist others if she
could. She will forever remain a positive force in the hearts and minds of those
who loved her.

Louise leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Richard L.
Swearingum of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers: Elmer G. Payne (Winifred), of
Detroit, Michigan and Richard Payne of Davenport, Iowa; three sons: Dr.
Derrick Lee Payne (Caroline) of Decatur,Illinois, Elton Payne and Tony B.

Rapids, Michigan, ten grandchildren, Angel, Tony Jr., Derrick Jr., Richard,
Michael, Victoria, and Tony D. Payne, Brianna James ,Daja, Diamond and
Breanna Payne. Six great grandchildren, a special mother, Mildred Cunningham
of Detroit, Michigan as well as a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
