Annesett Margaret Plata Taylor was born to the late Simon and Elitha Plata on June 10, 1920. Her father was born in Trinadad, The British West Indies; her mother was of German descent. She was the eldest of this union having two younger brothers, Marcus and Bernie, and two half siblings from a previous union on her mother’s side, Blanche and Joseph. All siblings have preceded her in death.

Annesett was baptized at St. Peter Claver and was raised in the Catholic faith. She was educated in the Detroit Public Schools excelling in domestic engineering. Annesett was deeply passionate about gardening, sewing, cooking, home decorating and reading. Annesett enjoyed planning for social gatherings and managing her finances, (She was The Master Mind of making a dollar stretch.)

On July 27, 1940, Annesett was united in holy matrimony and lifelong partner Orial A.W. Taylor at Sacred Heart Church, in Detroit, Michigan. They were blessed with 10 children, Miriam (Deceased), Sharei (Robert), Minga (Colin), Fabian, Nicholas, Robin (Charlene), Paul (Tomyko), Kenneth (Joyce Ann), David (Deceased) and Mark (Kim).
