Ethel M. Thomas was born July 31, 1929, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, she was the firstborn to the late Annie and Willie Smith. As a young teen, the family moved from Georgia to Ecorse, Michigan where she received her education in the public-school system. Ethel confessed Christ at an early age and attended First Baptist in Ecorse, Michigan. Later she joined and attended Tried Stone Baptist Church where she was a faithful and devoted member for over forty years. Later after her husband's death, she became a member of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.
Ethel was united in holy matrimony to Lawrence Thomas on December 16, 1954, and was blessed with one daughter, Angela Thomas-Hill. During her life, she loved to cook, and she catered many events. She also belonged to The Sophicates Social Club that traveled, organized events, and did charity work throughout the community. One thing she always did was help and give to anyone in need. Ethel has served as a wife, mother, grandmother, babysitter, and caregiver, and she was also known for her delicious cakes. Her biggest joy in life was her daughter and grandchildren, she was so proud and love each one of them unconditionally.
Her motto was: "Look upon others more than you do yourself"
On May 3, 2021, after 91 years of being a faithful servant, the gates of heaven open and the Lord called Ethel home to rest. She is loved and truly missed.
