Life Reflections of Tommie L. Coleman
Tommie L. Coleman was born on August 2, 1921, in Fayette County, Tennessee, to Walter and Josie Cross Coleman.
At an early age, Tommie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in a Baptist church. He was honored to serve as a reverend for more than 25 years, joyfully sharing the Word of God with anyone who would listen.
Tommie graduated from high school and proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service, he retired from Chrysler Automotive Company and continued to work in various jobs thereafter. Gifted with his hands, he was known as a skilled and resourceful man. He also enjoyed preparing delicious meals, and his favorite snacks were Lay's potato chips and ice cream.
He dedicated much of his time to working out and lifting weights, taking pride in maintaining good health and physical condition. In his quiet moments, he found peace in listening to gospel music, especially "Cooling Water" by Lee Williams. His niece, Gloria, lovingly gifted him a CD player and music so he could enjoy it often. He was also delighted to call on his niece, Vickey, to help him play the song on his computer. In his later years, this became one of his favorite pastimes and a true source of comfort.
Tommie's remarkable life journey came to a peaceful close at home on September 24, 2025
.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cookie Coleman; one grandson; and 22 siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Catherine Coleman; daughter, Anita Coleman; granddaughter, Devina Coleman; two brothers, Odell Green (Alma) and Shirley Green; two very special nieces, Gloria Brooks and Morlene (Lenie) Bonner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever treasure his legacy.
