Tommy Lynn
White
November 5, 1964 – March 18, 2026
Born on November 5, 1964, Tommy (Tony) Lynn White lived a life defined by style, warmth, precision, laughter, and a deep love for family. Tommy was born to George Leslie and Martha Louise White, both of whom preceded him in death. He was born and raised in Water Valley, Mississippi, where he gave his life to Christ at Bayson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Water Valley High School in 1982. Shortly after, he moved to Detroit, where he began building the life, relationships, and legacy that would come to define him.
Tommy built an admirable career in the automotive industry, beginning as a car porter and working his way up to become a respected Car Salesman. He dedicated 20 years to Snethkamp Jeep/Chrysler before ending his career at Royal Oak Ford. He took pride in his work, in doing things the right way, and in carrying himself with excellence.
More than his work, Tommy was intentional, detailed, polished, and particular in the best way. He was smooth, with a quiet confidence that made an impression without ever trying too hard. His routine and sense of style reflected a man who valued presentation and self-pride. He loved his trucks, movies, and music, with an ear for timeless artists like Anita Baker, Al Green, and Lee Williams. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, cigars, running, good conversation, and gathering with those he loved most.
Tommy shared an important chapter of life as a husband to Stefanie Worth, and together they raised Denmark Gibbs, Thomas White, and Elissa White. Of all his accomplishments, Tommy was most proud of his children. His daughter, Elissa, recalled that whenever dinner or time together ended, he would pull his ear and say, “I’m so glad we had this time together,” and she always believed him.
To his siblings, Tony was a loving, loyal brother and a steady presence. To his nieces and nephews, Uncle Tony was the coolest uncle in the room. To his friends, Tommy was witty, humble, and kind. For many, gatherings, cookouts, road trips, concerts, games, and everyday conversations with Tony became core memories filled with joy. He showed up and made life feel fuller, cherishing both the big moments and the ordinary ones with the people he loved.
The loss of his son, Thomas, left a great wound on his heart but drew him even closer to God in the end. He silently battled an illness in his final days, passing away on March 18, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Elissa White; his son, Denmark Gibbs; his brothers Morris White (Katherine Walker), Bernard White, Horace Jones, George Woodard, and Harry Phillips; his sisters Rozella Everett-Tyler, Rosie Ann Minor (Bernard), Jackie Dixson (Todd), Martha Faye Sims (Clarence), and Marlene Ragland (Charles); Aunts Katherine Harvard and Janie Tyler, Uncle Shelby White; and many nieces and nephews, dear coworkers, and friends who loved him deeply.
