Johnie W. Towns, Jr.

November 12, 1949 — August 27, 2020

Johnie William Towns, Jr was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Johnie William Towns, Sr., and Maxine Towns on November 12, 1949. Johnie was the third oldest of this union. He attended the Detroit Public Schools. Johnie worked for the Fiat Chrysler Corporation at the Jefferson North Assembly Plants and Dodge Main. He retired in 2009 after 41 years of service. For several years during his tenure at Fiat Chrysler, he was the proud recipient of Perfect Attendance awards. He excelled as a Body Repairman resulting in him being given the honorary title "Ding Man". Each day he would repair as many as 25-30 vehicles. One reason he was able to perform so highly, he created a special tool to repair those paint dings which ultimately resulting in savings to Chrysler. After retirement, always keeping a busy schedule Johnie worked full time at Home Depot. There he received an Employee of the month recognition for his work ethics. Another of his many after retirement attributes was landscaping. He began landscaping with Grass Pro Landscaping and continued with his own landscaping service. So meticulous with his work, Johnie was very much sought after by neighbors, friends, and acquaintances for his quality landscaping expertise. Whenever he wasn't needed elsewhere you could find him tending his own yard which looked very much like the care and love he was able to place into it.

Johnie married Linda Smith August 3, 2000, whereas he became a stepfather offering a positive influence. The couple were known for their entertaining events. Johnie took great pride manning the grill offering guests wide selections of grilled meats and vegetables which he meticulously prepared.

John was known as a kind and gentle soul, always caring and having concern for others. He was known for his signature goodbye of "Have a good day" and "You Have a Blessed Day".

He is preceded in death by his father, Johnie William Towns, Sr., his brother Kenneth Towns and stepson Michael A. Smith Jr.
