It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wilbur Boyd Lofton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated member of his community. Wilbur was born on September 25, 1936, in Birmingham, Alabama, and was called to eternal rest on September 30, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan.
Wilbur led a life marked by hard work and dedication. He proudly spent many years as an auto worker for Chrysler, contributing his skills and commitment to the automotive industry. He exemplified the values of perseverance and diligence throughout his career.
Wilbur honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a period of service for which he remained proud throughout his life. Wilbur's legacy of service extended beyond his military commitment; it was reflected in his devotion to his family and friends.
Celebrations of Wilbur's remarkable life will take place at the James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, inviting all who knew and loved him to pay their respects. The family hour will be held on Monday, October 13th, at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM on the same day.
Wilbur will be laid to rest at Detroit Memorial Park West in Redford, MI. His presence will be greatly missed, yet his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
