Arkie Jean Williams was born April 22, 1946 in Little Rock Arkansas daughter of the late
Sameul Harris and Bessie Mae Harris. Raised by her grandmother,
she, and her favorite and first cousin, Alice Faye were Educated
at Horace Mann High School. Arkie was an extremely outgoing
teenager, loved by everyone that encountered her.
After leaving High school, Arkie moved to Detroit, byway of
Chicago, at the age of 17. She was soon employed at Grace
Hospital as a CNA. Arkie Jean Williams, being married twice
in her lifetime, would later give birth to 4 beautiful children.
Pamela, William, Kenneth, and Marcel.
Arkie, coming from a spiritual family, always knew the Lord.
Having a love for GOD and a beautiful voice, she attended
Triedstone Baptist Church, where her father was the deacon, and
sang in the choir.
Arkie Jean Williams had a love for music, resale shopping,
interior design and most of all, cooking. Being called mom by
some and friends by others, feeding people was one of the things
that she really loved. Telling her how good her food was always
brought a smile to her face. Arkie cooked & created Sunday
dinners for over 25 years and she fed all comers with love, soul
food, laughter, and patience.
Some of her palate pleasing dishes are still discussed between
family & friends, from her corned beef to her barbecue turkey
wings and always a huge pot of greens with baked macaroni
and cheese. Arkie made sure there was enough to go around
for everyone.
Outside of her love for cooking great meals, was her love for children.
Arkie would foster over 6 children in her life span, adopting two.
Falandis Madison and David MacAlister.
