Willie Evans, was born June 6, 1946 in Ramer, Alabama to the late Allen and Mattie Day Evans. He was
raised in Montgomery County, Alabama. Willie Evans accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim
Missionary Baptist Church, Ramer, Alabama.
Willie Evans attended the Montgomery County Public School system. He graduated from George Washington Carver High
School in 1963. Willie enlisted in the United States Army, served in Germany and received an Honorable discharge.
After his discharge from the Army, Willie settled in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and worked for the Washington, D. C. Parks
and Recreation. He later relocated and attended Shaw College at Detroit, studied psychology and received a Bachelor’s
degree in 1981.
Willie was employed by U. S. Postal Service for a number of years as a mail sorter and mail carrier. Later Willie was
employed with TACOM as a Procurement Professional until his retirement in 2008.
Willie enjoyed chess, checkers and jazz music. More recently he had begun guitar lessons. Most of all he enjoyed
(lengthy) conversations with family members and friends as well as riding through Detroit and other Michigan cities like
Idlewild, Belleville and Harsens Island, looking at properties.
Willie Evans departed this life on Thursday, January 19, 2023. He was preceded in death by six sisters: Beatrice, Essie,
Leona, Julia, Mary, and Olivia and seven brothers: Charlie, Gus, Berry, George, Brovie and Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Cheryl Treasvant, life partner; children, grand and great grandchildren who considered
him a father figure and affectionately called him “Woo”: Kimberly Tresvant and Kevin Treasvant: Ke’Dereo Treasvant,
Kaylene Nickens and Christian Treasvant, Khalil Nickens, Ivy’ Rose Treasvant and Kamryn Nickens; sisters-in-law: Mattie P.
Evans, and Alice Evans of Mullins, S.C., nephews: Gus Evans, Jr. (Elizabeth), Samuel Evans (Lillie), and nieces: Tommie
M. Lee, Willa A. Ray, Mattie Delores Kelly, Jacqueline F. Evans, Deborah Evans, Janice M. Evans, Georgia A. Sharpe,
Charles L. Flemings, Brenda R. Evans, Rosie Evans, and a host of grand and great-grand nephews, nieces and friends.
