Obituary for Willerfred David Wilson

Willerfred David Wilson was born August 13, 1939 in Detroit Michigan to Emil and Willie Lee (nee McCurtis) Wilson. To everyone who knew him, he was known as Will. Will was a product of the Detroit Public School system having attended Sampson K-9 and graduating from Chadsey High School in 1956. He continued his education at University of Michigan where he earned a Bachelor's of Science degree. Will played football while at the university as he had done in high school.

He started his work career with the City of Detroit Department of Parks and Recreation and upon graduation from University of Michigan he transferred to the Welfare Department.

This career was interrupted when he was drafted by the United States(US) Army. Upon receiving an honorable discharge (US 55 740 312) in 1964, Will returned to the University of Michigan and earned a Master's in Social Work in 1969. Will returned to the City of Detroit Welfare Department which eventually became part of the Social Services Department of the State of Michigan. Will held various positions within the Department of Social Services including Probation Office for the Juvenile Department of Justice. Will came out of retirement briefly to be a consultant to the Detroit Area Agency on Aging evaluating seniors in Nursing Homes.

Will enjoyed attending the Detroit Institutes of Arts, Chene Park and any venues where concerts and Jazz was being performed. Will also belonged to several organizations including Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Toastmasters and AARP. Will also enjoyed playing golf with his friends on his annual trips to Florida and during the summer in Detroit.

Will was married twice but no children resulted from either union

Will's parents preceded him in death, leaving three cousins Roger Wilson, Curtis Klinglesmith and William J Klinglesmith of Los Angles, California to mourn as well as a host of friends including two boyhood friends he had known for over 65 years, Ronald G Roebuck and Charles M Hale.
