Joseph K. Wright
Joseph Kilpatrick Wright, affectionately known as "Pookie" was born September 17, 1972 in New Orleans, La, To Walter J, Reddick Sr. and 0llie Mae Wright, He was the youngest of four children.
In his youth he attended Bogalusa Louisiana school system. In 1988 he moved to Detroit Michigan and graduated from Mumford High School in 1991, where he became the first Compact student of the year Joseph was a very educated man. He received many certificates in the Construction field, Masonry, Abrasive Blasting, and Disaster Site Worker Train the Trainer. In 2007 he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science at Baker College. In 2009 he received a Bachelor degree in Labor Health and Safety at George National Labor College. In 2010 Joseph and his business partners and childhood friends, Nicole Smith and Maurice Jones started the Non profit Organization Sunset Community Out reach Inc. to better the Bogalusa Community through renovating the parks and recreation center.
Joseph accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1996 and was baptized at Sweet Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Joseph made a union in 1997 when he married the love of his life Erin, and from that union came three girls and a son that he raised as his own, and a granddaughter that he adored.
Joseph was an active member of Local Union 1191. He began his career as a Construction Laborer and worked for numerous Construction Companies. In 1998 he began working for Michigan Laborers Training Institute (MLTI) as a Construction Instructor. In 2011 Joseph's mentor, Mr. Michael Aaron appointed him Business Manager Representative for Local Union 1191.
Joseph was always motivated to do what was best for himself and his family. He was self-less and worked tirelessly to provide the best opportunities for his family and mainly his children. He was never anything but positive and inspiring to everyone. He was a true reminder that hard work and a positive attitude will get you where you want to go. Always with a smile on his face, a joke on his tongue and love in his heart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Erin and four beautiful children, Chas, Erieon, Je'Shani, Je Lani, and one gorgeous granddaughter Chaise (Chas). His loving mother Ollie, his Father Walter, two brothers Reginald Carney (Shawn), Walter J. Reddick Jr. (Joane) and one sister Michele Springer (Darryl), Father and Mother in law, Michael and Charlene Shinn, two brother in laws, Michael and Corey Shinn and two sister in laws Pamela and Kelli Shinn, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.
